Your Black Therapist for Moms in Durham, NC
Your Black Therapist in Durham, NC for Moms
You’ve danced around the idea of therapy for a while now, and you’ve probably landed on this page or others a few times, but today is the last straw. You are tired of pretending to be okay. On the one hand, nothing is completely falling apart, but you are so exhausted and you want a space to begin to heal and develop lasting healthy habits to incorporate into a lifestyle you love. It may not feel like it right now, but you can be well! You’ve come this far in spite of having to weed through mental health stigma in your family. You’ve made a decision that to pursue mental wellness is to pursue wellness, period. After tons of searches for a therapist who looks like you, you are relieved to find a black female therapist who is not only qualified but who also gets it.
I’m Kadeisha, a Black therapist in Durham, NC offering telehealth for North Carolina residents. I could tell you all of my qualifications (and I’ll get to that) but what I want you to know about me is that I’m a real human with real-life problems just like you. I share that with you to say, I get it, I really do! I know what it’s like to wrestle with the decision of if you should go to therapy and what it means if you do. I’ve sat on the couch (with trepidation and eventually great ease) and done my work and I continue to do so! Therapy has helped me to unearth my gems so that I can heal life traumas and find freedom to be the boldest, baddest, most authentic version of me. I want to live life audaciously, and I want that for you too! You really can be well.
My wellness journey has involved integrating my faith into my psychological wellness journey. You might also be here wondering if you can find a Black Christian Therapist who is willing to take the journey with you to integrating your spiritual and psychological wellness too. You may even be healing from some religious trauma or church hurt. I invite you to book with me for Spiritually Informed Therapy.
When I’m not in the telehealth therapy room with you, I’m out enjoying my life as a partner and a mom. I love, LOVE motherhood…not just for me but I genuinely enjoy the journey that parenting takes you on to discovering more about yourself, how to care for who you are as an individual and not just a parent, and how to be healthy for the long run so that you can be here to witness your babies grow and flourish. On top of my personal passion for motherhood, I have completed several trainings through Postpartum Support International and 2020 Mom, and I’m currently working towards my Certification in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C). If you want to engage in therapy with me as a new mom, new parent, or an individual with parenting concerns, Expect - Healing and Wellness Center is designed with you in mind!
Okay okay, now you’re wondering, so when do you tell me your qualifications (I told you I would get there)...but seriously, I prioritize sharing who I am with you more than a licensure number and list of degrees, because half the battle of progressing in therapy is having a great therapeutic relationship with your therapist. You want it to be an excellent fit for you, and I hope I can be that for you, but if we discover we are not a great fit, I will gladly assist you with finding someone who is.
You’ve been anxious, depressed, or struggling with several transitions, and You don’t have to stay stuck in those feelings. Let’s give them space and work through them together. Contact me today to schedule your FREE 15-minute phone consultation for telehealth in North Carolina.
